Luke Wesley Smalling was born Friday night at 10:15 PM. He weighs 11 lbs and 1.25 ounces and measures 22 inches long (no, that is not a typo). Both he and Melanie are doing well. We are all now home from the hospital and settling in.
For all of those who mourned with us, I ask you to rejoice with us today. The Lord has been merciful to bless us with another child, not that we may forget our sorrow, but that we may marvel at His incomparable goodness.
May the Kings of kings look down upon us all today and find us in wonder of his majesty and thankful to be his children.
"He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." How great it was to see this wonderful news today! I'm so happy for all of you and I hope that Luke's transition into your family is a smooth one. And wow, 11 pounds! That made me wince. Can't wait to see/hear more!
Melanie--Congrats on your new arrival! I am in complete shock and awe over your epidural-free delivery of your super-sized "Blueberry". Wow! You are amazing! Thanks again for helping me through my journey after my pregnancy loss. God has been so gracious to not only give us new children, but to also allow us to celebrate their births together. God is good, all the time!
Jared--Now that Melanie has carried and birthed a baby the size of a 3-month old, I better not EVER hear you equate tax season with pregnancy and childbirth again. If you do, I will have to release my hormonal, sleep-deprived fury on you :) On a serious note, congratulations on the arrival of your Baby Blueberry. I am so thrilled for you both.
