Maddy's turn & the walk

Since Madeline wasn't in on the Jedi action, here's a picture of her watching from the sidelines. She was sitting on her bike, which is about as close as she gets to riding it. She is so much like her mama, not an athletic (or even active) bone in her body! Good thing she's cute :)

After playing, we all took a walk in the lovely old neighborhood. It was a cool night, which we haven't had many of, especially considering it's October. Jack is finally reliable enough to walk our short little circle without the stroller, which is nice. Maddy and Noah (and now Jack, of course) have this game where they have to step on the manhole covers (there are a lot on this street) to get to the next "level". No one's sure what exactly that means, but it's an absolutely ESSENTIAL part of the walk! Notice how Maddy is so light on her feet! :)

Melanie, you have such a beautiful family! I'm so glad you found my blog so that I can check in with your family now (we'll have to team up to work on Erin... I don't think she ever even reads my blog, so I haven't gotten very far in persuading her to start one of her own!). It's hard to grasp how much our lives have changed in such a short period of time! God has blessed us so much!

Erin asked us to pray for your family last year following the loss of your baby girl. My heart still just aches for you. I lost Anna Kate's twin in November, and we prayed hard to keep Anna Kate. So I have only a teeny tiny sense of what the loss of a child feels like. But I have never buried a child, and I can't even let my mind go there because it's too painful a thought. I'm so very sorry that you have experienced that horror. I praise God that you and Jared have such an intimate walk with the Lord, and I hope that it's brought some comfort. I'm adding Ruby to my list of people I can't wait to meet in Heaven!

We took a family stroll the other night too. Those are always fun and eventful. A school was built right across the street from our house. We treked over there on foot and two on bikes. It was a real sight =)!
